Resolving the Postmodern Matter

Mind not moving
All's still

"You are"

Extreme Yoga

 You probably believe that
 This is about physical postures
 Held for hours by
 Double jointed contortionists

Sitting on the beach at dawn
Chanting mantrams for liberation
From the attachment to samsara
To drop the mortal coil at last

 It really would be incredible

To spend early winter at the

 Kumbha Mela spiritual festival
in Allahabad, India for a month

And then go to Varanasi March 10th
For Shivaratri with 70 million pilgrims
And then, and then, and then in Pondy
Relax at Auroville on the Bay of Bengal

Right where you are this moment
 Observe your mind thinking
Slow down the rate of speed
To a crawl and watch every word

 Direct your gaze to where
The words are formed and then
Go even further back to discover
 The electrical impulse

Just before that is the still point
From which you may live the
Rest of your life starting now
 Unencumbered by time and space

 That's the secret, okay?
 This is extreme yoga
 Now that you are enlightened,
What are you going to do?

Fast forward film techniques
Used in motion picture production
Suggest future earthly conditions,
While grasping to understand the moment

I have no answer in regard
To postmodernism's dissatisfaction;
Ten thousand complaints from
Ten thousand people I have heard

I read the Washington Post today, oh boy
No mention of Peace House or veterans' vigils
We are now all beseiged by tons of social networking
Messages worldwide.  Okay everybody, where's the peace?

Scene climate theatre piece fr. Fairfax Freedom Farm Writers' Group

Actors surround performance area carrying tall banners (black cloth) with white painted messages foretelling the environmental chaos evolving...disaster looms...
dark, dreadful, destructive, total calamity, encroaching doom, fierce winds of the Vedic god of destruction, Rudra, lashing sheets of water, tsunami waves, undersea volcanoes erupt, earthquakes, solar eclipse on August 21, 2017, fireballs across the sky, crashing to earth which start forest fires, cyclone devastation in the subtropics, hurricanes in the northern hemisphere, flooding, electrical storms, and heat waves.  Spread of diseases.

Dancing through the performance area (now surrounded by the tall looming banners),
actors with positive environmental solutions.

1. recycling
2. permaculture
3. alternative transportation
4. use of solar/wind power
5. eco-efficient home products

Actors from scene two still in their costumes, processionally enter
the performance area holding lighted candles and form a seated circle.

In the middle is placed a goddess statue, signifying a divine center or spiritual locus.

The actors sit silently in meditation, with the
outer actors dancing around them with their pro-sustainability messages, and the periphery actors slowly moving the tall black banners.

Ending soliloquy: A single actor delivers the final dramatic message, looking directly at the main camera.

Georg Buchner Quotation

"In the end, only one thing remains: an unending loveliness that
moves from one form to another,
eternally undone in every moment, eternally changing."

New Climate Theatre Piece Being Composed Right Now!

Warmest spiritual greetings,

Please know that the Fairfax Freedom Farm Writers' Group
on October 22nd, 2012 began a new climate
activist theatre piece, which we are going to collectively perform
on election day November 6th at an undisclosed location in
Washington D.C.   We are encouraging participation from all
interested Earth First!ers, Rising Tide participants, and
autonomous green anarchists.

Presenting our skeletal sketch of scenes one and two; scene three
is yet unwritten.

Scene One: Three climate scientists are measuring ice cores in
Greenland.  They have observed the melting permafrost layer, and
deduce that methane gas is being released into the atmosphere.
Methane gas is a global warming accelerant.  They send an urgent
message about their discovery, to their university climatology
department.   Their department's researchers put the information
into their computer system.  The result is a recalculation of the
projected tipping-point-of-no-return from 2050 to 2017!

Scene Two: Causes of global warming enacted by actors
simultaneously (in no particular order).
 -Arctic Drilling
-Car Culture (Driving a short distance to  a convenience store for snacks before watching television all day).
-Tar Sands
 -Mountain Top Removal
 -Deep Sea Drilling
-"Free Trade Isn't Free"  (Beach ball earth globe with arrows.  Actor wearing a sign detailing      the import of products, which could be grown and manufactured locally).
-War  Actor in a Joker mask wearing a  military costume with a sign reading "More Blood for Oil!", pumping motion
with one hand, the other hand "war drumming".

Scene Three:  Not yet written.

In conversation, we agree that we are not interested in an
"apocalyptic scenario"  for scene three, because we wish to end
with a message that intervening in history is possible.
Suggestions include having the actors who "woke up" sitting in a
meditation circle with candles, surrounded by shadows of impending
climate chaos, with actors holding signs promoting environmental
solutions on the periphery of the seated meditation circle.
