In response to the many emails received in the past two days to my "Going Upward" message, a clear philosophical statement is here offered. It is a fact that the Divine Absolute, or God, or Brahman is everything! That said, the relative appearance of all mental and material objects comes from the one Source. Otherwise, they could not relatively exist.
The only problem for the individual is to mistakenly identify with objects. The primary spiritual advice based on experience, in the Indian vedas and the explanatory upanishads, has been echoed through time by all of the sages and saints of every spiritual/religious tradition on the earth plane. It is simple: "Know Thyself!" The contemporary Indian jnana yoga master Nisargadatta Maharaj put it succintly: "Stop identifying with the body and the mind, and your problem is solved." And he added: "Remember the instruction: whatever you come across, go beyond."
It doesn't ultimately make any difference at all what spiritual/religious path or paths one embraces, because the paths are many and the truth is one. The problem is not identifying with one's true nature, and instead, misidentifying with mind and matter. All of the contemporary peace & justice and ecological problems on the planet earth are because of this basic confusion. If you are serious about doing something about the abominable situation of postmodernism, the insanity of greed, hatred and delusion based war, and the ecological destruction of the earth, then get Self-realized first. After that, you will go where you need to go and do what you need to do.
